Business Unit Head (Pharma)
Description

As the Business Unit Head, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic direction, growth, and profitability of the company's pharmaceutical business unit. Reporting directly to the Commercial Head, you will play a pivotal role in driving the achievement of the company's business objectives, fostering innovation, and ensuring operational excellence within the assigned division.


Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and execute the business unit's strategic plans in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
    • Identify new market opportunities, trends, and potential risks to drive sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions and address market challenges effectively.
  2. Financial Management:

    • Develop annual operating budgets, revenue forecasts, and financial targets for the pharmaceutical business unit.
    • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve budgetary goals.
    • Drive initiatives to optimize profitability, cost-efficiency, and resource allocation across the business unit.
  3. Market Analysis and Product Portfolio Management:

    • Conduct thorough market analysis, including competitor benchmarking and customer insights, to inform product development and commercial strategies.
    • Assess the performance of existing product portfolios and pipeline assets, recommending adjustments or enhancements to meet market demands and maximize revenue potential.
    • Collaborate with R&D, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams to prioritize and advance promising drug candidates through the development pipeline.
  4. Commercialization and Sales Excellence:

    • Lead the commercialization efforts for pharmaceutical products, overseeing marketing, sales, and distribution activities.
    • Develop and implement robust go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and pricing strategies to drive product uptake and market penetration.
    • Foster a culture of sales excellence, providing leadership and support to the sales team to achieve sales targets and maintain customer satisfaction.
  5. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards governing pharmaceutical products, including FDA regulations, GMP guidelines, and pharmacovigilance practices.
    • Collaborate with regulatory affairs and quality assurance teams to maintain product quality, safety, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, distributors, government agencies, and industry partners.
    • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and strategic meetings to enhance the company's visibility and reputation within the pharmaceutical sector.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, to drive cross-functional initiatives and foster a collaborative work environment.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy is a must; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in a leadership role within the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 10 years of progressive experience in business management, commercial operations, or strategic planning.
  • Strong business acumen, financial literacy, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building capabilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving innovation and continuous improvement in a dynamic business environment.
