Country Manager, Pharma, Cambodia and Laos

As the Country Manager for Cambodia and Laos, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and developing the business in these new markets. Reporting to regional leadership, you will be responsible for market entry, business development, regulatory approvals, and commercial execution.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Market Entry & Business Setup

  • Develop and execute market entry strategies for Cambodia and Laos, aligning with company objectives and local healthcare dynamics.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research, including competitor analysis, healthcare trends, pricing structures, and potential distribution channels.
  • Identify and establish local partnerships (distributors, wholesalers, healthcare institutions) to facilitate business operations.
  • Lead the regulatory approval process, working with health authorities to secure product registrations and compliance with local pharmaceutical laws.
  • Establish operational frameworks, including office setup, hiring, and infrastructure as required.

2. Business Development & Sales Strategy

  • Build a commercial strategy that includes pricing models, product positioning, and sales forecasts for both markets.
  • Identify key healthcare stakeholders, including government bodies, hospitals, pharmacies, and private clinics, to drive sales and business growth.
  • Develop and manage relationships with distribution partners, healthcare professionals, and regulatory agencies.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with local distributors and supply chain partners to ensure efficient market coverage.

3. Regulatory & Compliance Management

  • Ensure that all company activities adhere to local pharmaceutical regulations and industry standards.
  • Work closely with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and industry associations to navigate legal and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary product registrations, licenses, and approvals.

4. Marketing & Brand Positioning

  • Develop and execute marketing and promotional strategies tailored to local market needs and cultural preferences.
  • Coordinate with regional/global marketing teams to localize branding, advertising, and product messaging.
  • Organize medical conferences, product launches, and awareness campaigns to engage healthcare professionals.

5. Financial & P&L Management

  • Take full P&L ownership for Cambodia and Laos, ensuring financial sustainability and profitability.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, sales targets, and operational expenses.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs, adjusting strategies to optimize revenue growth.

6. Leadership & Team Development

  • Hire, develop, and lead a local team across sales, regulatory, and operations as the business scales.
  • Foster a high-performance culture, providing coaching, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to align market strategy with company objectives.

7. Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and government meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with health ministries, regulatory bodies, and key opinion leaders (KOLs).
  • Engage with local and regional partners to explore potential joint ventures, licensing, or business collaborations.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years in the Pharmaceutical industry, with strong exposure to business development and market expansion.
  • Expertise: Proven track record in market entry, regulatory approvals, and sales execution in emerging markets.
  • Leadership: Ability to work independently, build teams, and drive strategic growth in a startup environment.
  • Network: Strong connections with local distributors, government agencies, and healthcare institutions in Cambodia and Laos are a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent negotiation, financial acumen, and cross-cultural communication skills.
